Ca'Savio reviews
Ca'Savio, Cavallino-Treporti, Adriatic, Italy
As a family that usually spends our summers in the grand parks of France, we were curious to see how the Italian coast compared. Camping Ca’ Savio was a brilliant surprise. It’s a large, lively site, but because it’s tucked under a thick canopy of pine trees, it manages to feel peaceful, shaded, and grounded in nature—even during the peak of the Italian summer.
There are two separate pool complexes on the park. Our 5-year-old spent every waking hour on the massive pirate ship in the central pool, while our 8-year-old loved the "Wild River" and the slides. One pool is nestled deep in the forest, which became our go-to spot for a quieter afternoon swim.
Just like our favorite spots in the Vendée, the beach here is wide, sandy, and leads directly from the park. The Adriatic is incredibly shallow, so the kids could play in the waves safely while we actually managed to relax. A total stroke of genius! There's a dedicated LEGO tent where you can "check out" sets to build. It kept both kids entertained for hours during the midday heat.
While the park has everything you need, we tend to like exploring and this the location is a 5-minute drive (or local bus journey) to Punta Sabbioni, where you can hop on a ferry to Venice. It's about 30-40 minutes across the lagoon, and arriving at St. Mark’s Square by boat is an experience our kids haven't stopped talking about.
We took a smaller boat to the Burano island, and the neon-colored houses are a dream. It's much quieter than Venice and great for a wander with a gelato.
Caribe Bay is another location we visited that is nearby Lido di Jesolo, which is often called Italy's best waterpark. It's themed like a Caribbean island and is perfect if your kids want a high-adrenaline break from the campsite pools.
The Ca'Savio holiday park is a short, flat walk or cycle into the village of Ca' Savio. We loved the independence of cycling in for fresh supplies at the market or grabbing an evening pizza.
We are quite particular about where we stay, and booking through a specialist like Eurocamp really paid off. The holiday homes were modern, immaculate, and well-spaced. Having a proper kitchen and a large shaded terrace made it feel like a home-away-from-home.
In summary, if you love the freedom of French camping but want the culture and sunshine of Italy, Ca' Savio is a winner. The combination of forest shade and easy access to Venice makes it a very special spot.
Great campsite in low season, nice and quiet and right next to a beach. The onsite shop is well stocked and reasonably priced. There are lots of great bike routes in the area so I’d definitely recommend hiring bikes and making a picnic, for a great family adventure! Will be going back next year for sure!
Very large campsite, but don’t let that put you off as it has a great pool and beach as well as plenty of facilities to accommodate it’s capacity. The restaurant was a bit of a disappointment, but Ca Savio village is within walking distance where there are much better restaurants. There are loads of cycle paths, and the area is quite flat, so the kids would easily be able to manage it.
We stayed at Ca'Savio campsite in May, which I can only assume is when the campsite first opens for the year, as everything seemed disorganised, slow and dirty which was a shame as it looks like the campsite would have been great, if only we had gone a month later!
