Nature Parc L'Ardéchois: Riverside Bliss with Five-Star Comfort

As a family that usually splits our time between the vibrant coasts of Spain and the rolling hills of France, we've learned that the "holiday park freedom" we love is only as good as the bed you sleep in. Nature Parc L'Ardéchois in Vallon-Pont-d'Arc hit all the right notes for us—it has that rugged, outdoor Ardéchois soul, but with a level of refinement we usually only find on our favorite Spanish breaks. Canoeing from Your Doorstep: Being right on the river meant we could hire canoes directly from the park. Our 7 and 9-year-olds managed the shorter 7km route under the iconic Pont d'Arc—it was a core memory moment for all of us. The playground features a brilliant mini-castle that our kids retreated to every afternoon while we enjoyed a quiet drink at the riverside bar. It's rare to find a park that feels this safe and self-contained. The heated pool complex is immaculate (though strict on the "no swim shorts" rule—tight trunks only!). Having the choice between the crystal-clear river for stone-skimming and the pool for slides was the ultimate luxury for the kids.

Pro Tip: Walk into Vallon-Pont-d'Arc for the weekly market. It's bustling and full of local cheeses and honey—it gave us that authentic French village vibe we always look for.

Why We Booked via Suncamp After trying a few different operators over the years, we've become loyal to Suncamp, and this trip reminded us why. We stayed in a SunLodge, and the quality is simply miles ahead of the standard "safari tents" or older mobile homes offered elsewhere. Having proper, comfortable mattresses and a high-spec kitchen meant we didn't feel like we were "roughing it" at all. Suncamp seems to secure the best spots on the site. Our terrace felt private and spacious, which is a must when you have a 7 and 9-year-old burning off energy at 7:00 AM.

So overall L'Ardéchoi is the perfect balance of adventure and luxury. If you're used to high-end Spanish resorts but want the natural beauty of the French canyons, booking a SunLodge here is a no-brainer.
