Norcenni Girasole Club reviews

We just returned from a week at hu Norcenni Girasole Village and, wow, what a trip! We travelled as a family of five: myself, my husband, and our three kids, Bethany (8), Felicity (6), and Harris (5). If you’re looking for a place that perfectly balances "Italian charm" with "kids' paradise," this is it. It’s huge, it’s hilly, but it’s absolutely packed with things to do. Here is our breakdown of the pros and cons to help other families planning their stay.

The Pros
- Pool Heaven for All Ages: This was the highlight for us. There are two main pool complexes. The Upper Lagoon was perfect for Harris (5) and Felicity (6) because the floor is soft and spongy—no scraped knees! Bethany (8) couldn't get enough of the "Lazy River" (bring your own rubber rings or buy them at the shop!).
- Top-Tier Kids' Entertainment: The animation team is tireless. The Mini Disco at 8:45 PM became our nightly ritual. Even though it's a bit late, the atmosphere in the amphitheatre is electric, and the girls loved learning the routines.
- The Adventure Park (ANTS): For a small extra fee, the kids did the tree-top climbing and mini-golf. It was a great way to burn off energy before dinner.
- Food & Gelato: You are in Tuscany, after all! The onsite restaurants are actually good (not just "campsite good"). The Il Vecchio restaurant had amazing pizzas, and we visited the gelateria every single day.
- Easy Access to Florence: We took the campsite shuttle to the Figline Valdarno train station and were in the centre of Florence in 40 minutes. It made a "culture day" actually doable with three young kids.

A Few Things to Consider
- The Hills are Real: The park is built on a steep hillside. Walking from the bottom (reception/main piazza) to the top (lagoon pools) is a workout. There is a shuttle train, but in peak times it gets very crowded, and you might have to wait for the next one.
- Mobile Home Spacing: Depending on which area you are booked into, some of the mobile homes are quite close together. We did our homework and booked with Suncamp who have more private decking, and chose a plot with a view of the Chianti hills.
- Noise Levels: Because the entertainment is so good, it can be loud. If your kids are light sleepers and you’re located near the main piazza, you’ll definitely hear the music until about 11:00 PM.
- The Mosquitoes: Being in a lush, green valley means the mozzies are out in force. Bring plenty of repellent!

Summary: For our family this park is a dream. Bethany loved the independence of the older kids' club activities, while Felicity and Harris were basically part of the furniture at the splash pools. Family Tip: Book accommodation with Air Conditioning. We had a heatwave during our stay, and we wouldn't have survived without it. Also, try to request a central "Zona D" location if you want to be midway between the two pool areas.

Would we go back? In a heartbeat. The kids are already asking when we can see the mascot "Sunny" again!

This campsite is set in absolutely beautiful surroundings and is very well looked after. My family (hubby & 2 children aged 8 and 11) had a fantastic fun time here and the best bits were definetly the pools, childrens activities and the fabulous well being facilities.The location of Norcenni Girasole is ideal for sightseeing and exploring the delights of Tuscany. Only a short drive is Figline Valdarno train station which we used for a day trip to Pisa (only 1 hour trip but not much to do in Pisa) and later on in the holiday we took a 2 hour train journey to Rome which was fantastic.

The facilities on site were second to none from the sauna, gym and steamrooms to the pools and food emporiums. The restaurant food was good, especially the Norcenni Antipasti Platters, and the staff were very friendly. It wasn't a problem not knowing fluent Italian as most people spoke perfect English. We stayed in a Thomson AlFresco mobile home which had lots of ground space and located a nice distance away from the campsite centre amenities. The mobile we had was modern and new with AirCon (which is a must in the heat) and decking which gave us a nice area to sit out on in the evening to eat and relax. We did see some very small mobile homes and others that were crammed together so do your research first before you book as alot of pitches we saw were rather small. The kids loved the childrens club as they offered plenty of sports and activities but the younger club didn't seem to have as many organised sports events. The clubs are not that strict and let our youngest (8 years) join in with the older classed club which was a big help keeping our two together.

This site is hilly but not as bad as some of the other reviews make it out to be. We managed without any problems at all and if your feeling a little lazy their is a little train that takes you up to the top pool. Overall I would definetly recommend this site, the facilities on offer were of a really good standard and would certainly recommend the site for families holidaying with teenagers, not so much for kids under 8. As for advice, do check the size of the accommodation and pitches before booking and I would recommend hiring a car to explore the breathtaking sights of Tuscany.

Loads of activities, which are organised by the campsite entertainment team. There are three restaurants, which were all good. Kids loved the ice cream parlour. The staff was friendly and helpful. Good bas to explore Tuscany and Florence (Florence is stunning!). The evening shows on Norcenni were brilliant, as was the disco’s. Security patrol the campsite at night so we felt safe letting the kids have a bit more freedom than we would normally give them on holiday. Overall a great friendly campsite, with something for all.

Had a fab two week holiday here. Big site, which was livelier than we had expected. Both pool areas are great. Nice bar near the top pool and prices not too expensive. Emplacements are a bit cramped, as they are on a hillside so you don’t get much privacy.

Norcenni is a large campsite, but it doesn’t feel like one. Some of the pitches are on steep hillsides, so not ideal for those with mobility issues. There are two pool areas at this campsite, one at the bottom and one at the top and there is a train that ferries you between them. The pool at the top has a lazy river (very popular), a splash pool and the bottom pool area has two pools, one being very large and with lots of slides. The campsite has everything you could need, shops, takeaway, there is a Lidl nearby if you are on a budget and like cooking. One tip- make sure you bring mosquito repellent, as there were loads while we were there.

Norcenni Girasole is one of the largest campsites we have ever been to. It has great facilities and is really family friendly. The staff at the campsite are really helpful and the whole place is well maintained. There is a small train that takes you up to the top pool, which is a godsend, as it’s a steep uphill walk. The only downside to our holiday was that our canvas mobile home was too close to another one (literally 5 meters apart), which gave us little privacy as out mobile homes were facing each other (luckily we got on with the other family). If we were to stay here again it would definitely be with another holiday company.
