Castell Montgri reviews

Castell Montgri campsite reviews - L'Estarit, Costa Brava, Spain

The Noden Family | August 2025

A brilliant choice for families who want a "big" holiday experience. It’s loud, busy, and hilly, but the pool variety and entertainment are hard to beat. Ideal holiday fun for kids under 12.

The Green Family | July 2025

We stayed as a family of four (Mum, Dad, 9-year-old boy, and 6-year-old daughter). This is a large, vibrant site with a "resort" feel. It’s perfect if you want non-stop action, though be prepared to keep moving—the site is built on a hillside! There are three distinct pool areas. Our 6-year-old daughter loved the L'Ombra Pool with its child-friendly slides, while our 9-year-old preferred the Panorama Pool for the views and the foam parties. The La Bassa pool at the top is quieter and beautifully lit at night. The entertainment team is fantastic. Our kids were obsessed with the mascot, Freddy; the "mini-disco" and evening shows are professional and very engaging for primary-aged children. There’s an animal farm, a large open-air cinema, and even a "Jocs" funfair nearby. The site feels like a mini-village with its own creperie and ice cream parlours. The atmosphere in the central square during the evening is electric, with live music and plenty of outdoor seating.

Be aware that you often have to pay for sunbeds (around €4–€8) and they can get snapped up quickly. Most families just use their towels on the grass areas instead. We found it better to use the takeaway or head into the local town for better value.

We would recommend visiting L’Estartit Beach (15 min walk/shuttle) which is a huge flat sandy beach. In high season, there is a free shuttle bus from the campsite that saves your legs. The Medes Islands Boat Trip was also fantastic. You can take a glass-bottom boat from the harbor. Our kids loved seeing the fish and divers in the protected marine reserve. Montgrí Castle offers 360-degree incredible views at the top and is walkable from the campsite. Overall we had a great time at Casell Montgrie and was hapy with the Eurocampings mobile home that was modern and very clean on arrival.

The Abbey Family | July 2013

We have just returned from a two week holiday at Castell Montgri, we have two children aged 13 and 7, and they both had a fantastic time. There are two swimming pools with slides (one near the bottom and the other near the middle of the campsite). We were slightly annoyed however that you had to pay 4 euros for a sunbed, especially when our kids barely used them as they were in the pool all the time. We went to Estartit a couple of times as the restaurants there were cheaper and had better service than the one at Castell Montgrie. We also had a few barbeques at our mobile home (if you are staying with Keycamp they are provided, otherwise you can hire then from the campsite for 10 euros). We Will definetly be coming back here and will probably choose Keycamp again as the reps were very helpful, the homes had the best plots, and the clubs they provided allowed the kids to mingle with more of their own age without being too shy and reserved.

The Piers Family | June 2011

Lots to do at this campsite. Castell Montgrie is quite hilly and the facilities are spread across the campsite. At the lower level there is a restaurant, two bars, shops, cinema and swimming pool. All of the main entertainment is on the middle level, as well as the panarama pool. The nearest town, Estartit, is only a 10 minute walk away were-there are plenty of cheap restaurants and shops.

The Fletcher Family | July 2011

Just back from our eurocamp holiday in Castell Montgrie and we had a fabulous time. Lots to do in the area, kids loved the trip on the glass bottom boat. The campsite it’self has a good pool and great evening entertainment, which is what a holiday is all about for us. I can’t recommend a campsite any more than this one, go and see for yourself!
